He was a war hero, never talked about it apart from the bits he thought funny, when he landed on Gold Beach on D Day he said it could have been Orkney for all he knew. He has an award from the French that made me cry, he never told us we only found out when we sent off for his war medals. The medals he binned the day he received them.


He had seen probably 1000's on young men die, he never saw himself worthy of a medal just fucking lucky.

You see yourself better than him as he was a lifelong socialist. Go fuck yourself.
