Boro 4 Millwall 2 & a record signing

I remember this day, for all the right, excitable days, as if it were yesterday

Saturday morning me & Mrs erimus had just got home from shopping & got my pre-match fish & chips before setting off to the match

As we sat down to my my F&C, I was listening to the radio when it was announced that Peter Davenport had chosen to sign for the Boro over Villa, wow, what a cracking signing, 2 years after almost going to the wall we had signed an England International from Man Utd & Forest, a record signing, which was going to improve our young, exciting team even more, or so we thought

Soon as I heard on the radio that Peter Davenport had agreed to sign for us my F&C were history, I was so excited I just wanted to go the match then, though it was only half 12 &  we lived 10 minutes to Ayresome Park

Once I came down from off the ceiling I finally ate my dinner, gave my wife a kiss on the cheek & round to the yellow rose for a pre match beer, or two, with my dad & mates, then off to the holy grail, to see the mighty Boro

Walking to the ground you could feel the excitement in the air, then once in the ground the place was buzzing, there's only going to be one winner to come that afternoon

This game followed the excitement of the morning, scoreline going one way, then another, from 1-0 up to 2-1 down to winning 4-2, this game was as good as the score suggests

Exciting from start to finish, fantastic Boro

Gary Hamilton v Trevor Hurlock, what a contest, Gary Hamilton came out on top though
Gary Pallister & Mogga v Tony Cascarino & Terry Sherringham

With goals from Bernie Slaven, Stuart Ripley, Mark Burke & a Gary Parkinson penalty

What a fantastic game, one of my highlights at Ayresome Park, I dearly miss that place

That was a fantastic era, so proud & fortunate to have been a Boro fan back then
Boro team: Stephen Pears, Gary Parkinson, Colin Cooper. Tony Mowbray, Gary Hamilton, Gary Pallister, Bernie Slaven, Mark Brennan, Mark Burke, Paul Kerr, Stuart Ripley, sub, Alan Kernaghan
Attendance: 19,788

I was also in the East End for this one

Over next to the Millwall fans

Was a fantastic game and result

Yeah - Peter 'sorry lads I fell over' Davenport

Managed to score against us vs the Mackems somehow...

Nosmo-King

One of our biggest disappointments as a signing. Really thought he would be a stellar signing but was a flop - a big one.

The late Jimmy Armfield was really impressed we got him - but he failed so miserably I'm afraid

AtomicDog

*Terry* Hurlock Mr Erimus

Or Warlock as he was known to the wall.

They loved him there
Why must I feel like that . . . Why must I chase the 🐈

Of course he was Atomic, silly me
I can still see them now from my seat in the south stand, no inch spared between the pair, good old fashioned two tough midfielders, Hurlock with his greasy long hair squaring up to Hammy, the Boro lad coming out on top, well I would say that

Cheers Atomic, keep me right mate

AtomicDog

Wasn't keeping you right mate. Just remember from when I lived down there and drank with a lot of Millwall, he use to booze with a few of em. Like I said they idolised him.
