Valued member of the team, feel for him, a good pro who gives everything & to happen in such bizarre circumstances is really tough on the lad

Opportunity for Dijksteel . VDB and Jones can also play there.
Smith has been good this season though

Blott

Why did they let him walk around the pitch? Are they daft?

Bud Wiser

Bit of a kick in the balls this one. If we're persisting with a back 4 Smith is definately the pick of our right-backs.

I'd like to see Dijksteel given a chance now with Smith out. He's big, Strong and quick and is decent going to forward.

Mike Peeler

Yep, it is a big season-long chance Dijksteel or VDB. The is plenty of cover even Paddy McNair can play that position.

This is a blow because Smith is solid - unfortunately it may be the last we see of him in a Boro shirt. As said above this opens the door for one of Djiksteele or Van Den Berg. Djiksteele offers more in an attacking sense whilst Van Den Berg is probably more solid defensively. Be interesting to see who Magic Mike goes with on Saturday - think it'll be the Dutch lad who gets the nod myself, but i quite like the thought of two full backs who like to get forward. Engel and Djiksteele could be quite a handful for teams to deal with.
