In a 1st divison game, he became the 10th different Boro player to score a hat trick, when he scored his 2nd Boro hat trick, the 9th at Ayresome Park, 13th home (4 hat tricks before AP) hat trick & 15th overall, when he scored all our goals in a 3-4 home defeat to our neighbours Sunderland

George Elliott went on to score 12 Boro hat tricks between March 1913 - November 1922
