With a 4-0 win over Charlton Athletic at Ayresome Park in a 1st divison match, goals from full back George Laking, his one & only Boro goal, midfielder John Milne & a brace from goal machine Micky Fenton for his 7th of the seasonBoro cartoon drawings

George Fenton scored in all but one of the 1st 7 games & finished the season scoring 34 goals in 33 league games
Wilf Gillows team finished the season in our 2nd best top flight finish of 4th, beating the previous seasons finish of 5th & the season before 7th

He's gradually putting together a team that should improve season on season & the following season (1939/40) could see us beat our best position of 3rd place
